The Bandolero Car
When U.S. Legend Cars needed a stepping stone for drivers between karting and the Legend Car, the Bandolero car became the answer. First introduced in 1997 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Bandolero first entered national competition in 1998 and is open for drivers 7 years of age and older, with no age limit.
The objective for former Charlotte Motor Speedway president, Humpy Wheeler, with the Bandolero was to create a car that would be easy to maintain for anyone who possessed one. Under the Italian sports car-inspired design is not only the perfect car for karting drivers to advance through the racing ranks, but also serves as a great trainer for new racers and mechanics.
The Bandolero is a turnkey spec-car, that operates similar to a kart with left foot braking. The car is equipped with a centrifugal clutch, therefore the driver does not have to shift gears.
The Outlaws Division is for older and the most experienced Bandolero drivers, ages 12 and up. Drivers who turn 12 during the calendar year can elect to move up from Bandits to Outlaws as an 11-year-old before their 12th birthday. Once a driver is 12 years of age as of January 1, they must compete in the Outlaws Division.
Drivers beginning their career in Bandoleros who are between the ages 7 and 11 compete in the Bandits Division to develop their skills as a race car driver in a fully enclosed and roll caged car. No experience in a race car is required to drive a Bandolero. Karting drivers should climb inside a Bandolero when ready for their next challenge!
